Stay Well This Winter

This project aims to help people stay well this winter. Working with the NHS in NW London, Somali parents to engage with the Somali community in west London conveying key messages and reach community members. The project aims to support  residents with decisions about their health and the services they use by providing information and redirecting people at the point of need.

The campaign is focusing on three key areas:

  1. Vaccinations (flu and Covid vaccinations)
  2. Children’s flu vaccination (nasal spray) – all children aged 2-3 and reception – year 11, and children from 6 months with underlying health conditions
  3. Where to go when you need help (GP, online consultation form, 111 online, 111, Pharmacy, UTC, A&E)
  4. Additional messages: mental health support, keeping well, prescription information

 Key messages:

  • Get your flu and coronavirus vaccinations. It is safe to take both together.
  • Get your children vaccinated for the flu to reduce their chances of needing hospital care and help prevent the spread among vulnerable family and friends.
  • Keep yourself and your home warm. If possible, heat your home to at least 18°C (65°F).
  • Keeping active can help you stay well and reduce the risk of depression.
  • Stay connected with family, friends, and neighbours. Keep in touch with older friends, family members, and neighbours over the winter, especially if they live alone.
