Care and Support Advocacy
Somali Parents CIC provides practical support and advocacy for adults who need help accessing and managing care and support services.
We work with individuals, families, social workers and Adult Social Care teams to help people understand their care options, access appropriate support and have their views and wishes heard.

- Care packages – supporting clients to understand and access appropriate care and support packages.
- Personal budgets and direct payments – helping eligible clients understand and manage their personal budgets and direct payments.
- Carer arrangements – helping clients arrange support from suitable carers and checking that relevant documentation is in place.
- Payment and record keeping support – assisting clients with care-related payments, records and administrative responsibilities.
- Monitoring and reporting – helping clients maintain appropriate records and provide monitoring information to Adult Social Care when required.
- Advocacy – supporting people to communicate their wishes, choices and concerns to social workers and other professionals.
- Safeguarding support – helping clients and families understand safeguarding concerns and raise issues with the appropriate professionals.

Our approach
We believe people should be supported to have choice, dignity, independence and control over their care and support.
Our role is to help clients understand the system, communicate with professionals and manage the practical aspects of their care arrangements. We work alongside Adult Social Care and other professionals rather than replacing their statutory responsibilities.
We provide culturally sensitive support and can assist people who face language, communication or cultural barriers when accessing adult social care services.
Who we support
Our service is particularly helpful for:
- Older people
- Disabled adults
- People with care and support needs
- People receiving or applying for a personal budget or direct payment
- Families supporting an adult relative
- People who need help communicating with Adult Social Care
- People who experience language or cultural barriers when accessing services
